Launching of Ncwera III Bridge Construction in Mitooma District

On June, 24th, 2026, the technical staff and the District leadership headed by the District Chairperson – Karitundu Alex Okanga went for monitoring of Ncwera Bridge III construction. The event was attended by the Deputy Resident District Commissioner – Muhanguzi Umaru, District Speaker – Hon. CSL John Tibs Akanyamuhanga, Vice Chairperson – Hon. Ainembabazi Onesmus, Secretary for Works, production and natural resources – Hon. Mbangira Bernard, Secretary for Social services and Community Based Services – Hon. Katushabe Pross, Secretary for Administration and Planning – Hon Lemigious Tuhimbise Baguma, District Engineer – Tumwebaze John Baptist, District Water Officer – Tumusiime Geoffrey, Environment Officer - Kagumire Godwine, Assistant Engineering Officer (Water) - Tumwine Elly, Road Inspector – Mandela Franklin, Contractor – Geses Company Limited and community people.

District Engineer, Tumwebaze John Baptist says that this bridge connects Ruhinda to Ruhinda North constituencies. The construction will be done by Geses Company Limited. The works were already started like preliminaries, the (7x6)m bridge at 92% complete and the project is estimated at 544,923,764 Ugx cost. He says that the project is progressing well, thanked the community people for being cooperative and hospitable.

During his remarks, Alex Karitundu Okanga – the District Chairperson appreciated H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for providing funds for construction of that bridge. He says that Ncwera Bridge is very wide and all its parts are being worked on. He thanked the community people for showing up and requested them to use this opportunity and get employed by contractor so that they can earn a living. This was directed to the unemployed youth in villages around the site. He requested district councilors not to get tired of monitoring such projects since that’s one of the ways of ensuring that government projects are implemented well as costed in the bills of quantities and within stipulated time frame.

In her remarks, the District Woman Member of Parliament - Hon Kyarampe Rebbecca- thanked the almighty for the gift of life to all the people of Mitooma and for having enabled the Rt. Hon Thomas Tayebwa secure a second chance as the Deputy Speaker of Parliament. She added that it’s good to have such leaders hailing from our communities as it becomes easy to lobby for services. She further thanked the Contractor for the good and speedy work already executed.
